Xolo Books T-Shirt Design
Design Iteration
Xolo Books is an independent online bookstore located near Washington, D.C. It amplifies intersectional and anti-colonist literature written by Black, Indigenous, and People of Color though the selling, promotion, and celebration of books from across the world.
I was commissioned by Xolo Books to create a t-shirt design for their fundraising campaign they were promoting on Bonfire for the upcoming holiday season. I was provided with creative liberty as long as it was on brand for Xolo Books.
After brainstorming for a while, I illustrated this design and called it “Latin America Bookshelf” with various flora and fauna that are native to South America.
The animals featured are the piranha, scarlet macaw, quetzal, a little green lizard, three-toed sloth, monarch butterflies, capybara, anaconda, poison dart frog, and one skull. I wanted the shirt to symbolize the beauty in diversity.
The fundraising campaign was successful! The shirt was a best seller and raised funds Xolo Books more than anticipated.
